X (Twitter) & Grok AI Exploitation Lawsuits
Holding Big Tech Accountable for AI-Generated Harm
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) platforms exploded in popularity in recent years. While many turn to AI platforms to answer innocent queries, the Grok platform operated by xAI has been used millions of times to generate non-consensual sexual imagery from ordinary photos (deepfakes).
Grok was intentionally designed with a function called “Spicy Mode.” Users only need to pay an additional fee to access Grok with Spicy Mode. With this function, Grok generates images that are sexually explicit, including by taking images from social media and removing clothing. However, a study by the Center for Countering Digital Hate reveals that in only an eleven-day period in 2025, Grok was used to generate 3 million sexual images–with 23,000 of those depicting children.
These deepfake sexual images are indistinguishable from real images of children and feature the faces of real children. In other words, Grok has been used to generate tens of thousands of images of Child Sexual Abuse Material.
If you or your child have suffered psychological trauma, or reputational damage due to X or its AI tool, Grok, the legal team at Nigh Goldenberg Raso & Vaughn (NGRV) is here to advocate for you and your family with compassion.
Why Is X Facing Lawsuits Now?
Unlike previous social media litigation, the claims against X and xAI for AI-generated exploitation:
- The “Grok” Deepfake Crisis: Lawsuits allege that X’s AI chatbot, Grok, was launched without adequate filters, allowing users to generate “nudified” or sexualized images of real people—including minors—with simple text prompts.
- Failure to Moderate: Since 2023, X has reportedly laid off over 80% of its trust and safety staff. This has led to a documented “lapse in basic enforcement” against child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and non-consensual intimate imagery.
- Profit Over Protection: Allegations suggest that X intentionally reduced safety measures to cut costs and drive engagement, even as international regulators (including the EU and Australia) issued formal warnings regarding the rise of illegal content on the platform.
Do You Qualify for an X/Twitter Lawsuit?
NGRV is investigating claims for individuals who meet the following criteria:You or your child were the subject of non-consensual, AI-generated sexual images (deepfakes) created or shared on X.
FAQ: The X Lawsuit
Does “Section 230” protect X from these lawsuits?
While Section 230 often protects platforms from being sued for what users say, it does not protect them from their own product design. Our lawsuits focus on how the platform’s algorithms and AI tools (like Grok) were built to create or amplify harm.
How is this different from the TikTok or Meta lawsuits?
Lawsuits have been filed against social media platforms like TikTok and Meta alleging that users suffered mental health injuries as a result of addiction to social media. However, lawsuits against xAI are based on the generation of nonconsensual sexual images by xAI’s Grok tool.
What kind of evidence is needed?
- Records of reports made to X’s “Support” or “Safety” team.
- Medical or therapy records related to mental health struggles or addiction
- Communications with law-enforcement
What should I do if I find sexual images of my child, including Grok-created deepfakes?
Any visual depiction (including photos or videos) of a person under eighteen years of age involving sexually-explicit conduct is Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM). It is illegal to possess CSAM for any reason–including as evidence in your civil case. Please do not send any images of you or your child in any state of undress to NGRV. Instead, if you find CSAM online you can report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children Cyber Tipline and contact local law-enforcement to make a police report and get assistance. You should keep note of the police report number, date of the report, and point of contact at the law-enforcement agency for your records.
