One of the many factors that impact the odds of a sexual assault case going to trial is whether the lawsuit is part of a Multi-District Litigation (MDL). Some sexual assault lawsuits, such as those against a rideshare company, are more likely to become part of an MDL. Instances where a single defendant is being sued for hundreds or thousands of instances of sexual assault or rape are more likely to become consolidated into a mass action like an MDL. The fewer sexual assault lawsuits against a single defendant, the less likely the cases will become an MDL, and the more likely the sexual assault lawsuits will go all the way to trial.
